Animals MatterThank you for supporting the Animals Matter campaign! You are part of an ever-growing number of people from all around the world who care about animals, and believe that there should be international recognition of the importance of their welfare.

We want governments to support the progress of a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare. This Declaration would represent global recognition that animals can feel pain and can suffer wherever they are in the world, and would encourage governments to improve their own standards of animal welfare within their borders

UDAW inspires new animal welfare ordinance in the Philippines!

The campaign for a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare has prompted improvements in standards of animal welfare in the Philippines where the Sangguniang Panlalawigan province is introducing a new animal welfare ordinance! The Philippines currently play a crucial role in the progress of the UDAW, and it was said to be this participation that inspired the changes. The ordinance is set to make the torture, neglect and maltreatment of animals unlawful.

Comedians ‘Stand Up for Animals’ in London

Ricky Gervais The first ever World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) comedy benefit ‘Stand Up for Animals’, headlined by international star Ricky Gervais, was held in London in January. The line-up of comedians entertained a packed venue and raised over £80,000 for animal welfare causes including the campaign for a Universal Declaration on Animal Welfare.

Animal Friends Croatia (Prijatelji Zivotinja) collect over 8000 names for the Animals Matter to Me Campaign

Animal Friends CroatiaAnimal Friends Croatia have collected over 8000 signatures for the Animals Matter to Me Campaign over a matter of months through a series of local events and grassroots activities including petition collections organized by supporters.

Animal Friends Croatia was established in 2000 and currently has over 2,300 members, both in the country and abroad, and over 7,500 supporters. The organization has 14 branches as well as a headquarters in Zagreb.
